Astronomical Observatory of Asiago

Asiago was selected for the clearness of the atmosphere and the sky that would have enabled an interesting and profitable work. Galileo's telescope was installed in the workshops of Florence from the parabolic reflector of 122 cm. in diameter, then the largest in Europe and is still in operation today. In 1956 and 1965 were added two other telescopes. In 1973, the new premises at Cima Ekar was installed a new and impressive 182 cm mirror telescope. diameter designed by scholars of the Asiago Observatory and realized by officine Tailors in Bologna. Even today it is the largest telescope in Italy. Asiago is searching for each branch of modern astrophysics and this makes the Observatory a scientific reference point, not only in the national field.
